Real stories start without you noticing they’ve begun. Ours was not an exception. It started in the summer of 2008 when a group of friends decided to play woods-ball on regular basis. We played against our friends, colleagues and other paintball beginners. Week after week, battle after battle, all bruised up and muddy we were becoming addicted to our new hobby.
Our perspective had shifted in late winter. Jiří Lebiš joined the team and started to teach us our first paintball steps. We realized there was a difference. Enjoying a beer once after the training, we all confessed to what we secretly wanted: to carry on with paintball on a regular and professional basis. A new star to our story was born - Team RMG.
We trained hard, attended local tournaments and mostly got beaten at first. Slowly but surely we evolved into a respected team from Slovakia, from a country that has never really pushed the limits within this sport. Our fights and victories have made us proud of our achievements, proud to represent our team and our country. Winning all podiums at the Austrian, Czech and Millennium Series - e.g. 5men or Div2 - have boosted our self-esteem and helped setting our goals higher.
Team RMG is a solid base for players who love the sport and who love winning. The hunger, the will and the challenge make you go out there and fight for the Sunday Club. It's not only about the glory, however. High5-ing your buddies after the finals is what gets you hooked. You want to feel the sensation again and again. The fun and excitement you get from spending time with your teammates is something that makes your life richer. That's paintball for us.
Admittedly, it's not always easy to be training when others are at the beach, or to spend weekends on the road, to eat crap on the plane, to talk to your family on the phone. But if you love something as much as we love paintball, you'll understand.
A huge Thank you goes out to all our families and friends for their support. We couldn't do it without them. You can't win the finals when your girlfriend's mad at you :)
Our story has unfolded quietly, in a way no one would've expected. Every time I find myself crouched behind a bunker, covered in dirt, breathing heavily into a mask and watching hundreds of colored balls splash around me, I always think of the number of coincidences that's led us all here. And I feel that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.
